For cross-play to work with friends, you need to add them via their Epic account. Here you will need their Epic Games account username or email, not their Xbox Live account or PSN ID. If you play Fortnite on any other platforms, you can link your other accounts here - all progress and any purchases made are shared across your accounts. Once connected, you will be able to use the cross-play feature with other players on different platforms. Click the blue "Connect" button underneath the Xbox logo and sign in using your Xbox Live account. You will now see several different options to link your gaming platform to your Epic account. Once you're logged in, head to "Account" in the top right. You can register for an Epic Games account here. To enable cross-play in Fortnite, you will need to set up your Xbox Live account as above but also sort out your Epic Games account. Assuming that you want to talk to your friends as well, you'll also want them to to change the "You can communicate outside Xbox Live with voice and text" to Allow.įor those of you playing Minecraft on different platforms from an Xbox, you will still need this setting enabled, as online features in Minecraft are tied to your Xbox Live account, not PlayStation Network or Nintendo accounts. They will then have to tab over to Xbox Live/Windows 10 Online Safety and change the "Play with people outside of Xbox Live" setting to Allow. Your parent will have to go Privacy and Online Safety, and then select your Child account from the Family list. If you are under 18 and have family restrictions on your account: You will have to get the parent of your Microsoft Family to log in – give them this link and tell them to log into their Microsoft account, and they will end up on their settings page. This will now let you play games such as Minecraft and Fortnite with other people from different platforms. Change the first setting "You can play with people outside of Xbox Live" to allow. If you are an adult with no family restrictions on your account: Sign in to your Microsoft account here to get to your settings. If your parents have set up a Family in their Microsoft Account and you're in it, chances are you will have to get them to do it. Chances are, the feature is already enabled, but if you're under 18, you will have to change this setting. First things first, you'll need to have the "Play with people outside of Xbox Live" setting enabled on your Xbox account to allow cross-play.
